"By giving more insight into the how, what and why, we want to offer inspiration to engage a more conscious and long-term relationship with what we buy."

The Story
During her studies as an art history scholar, Nele came into contact with knitting and since then you will rarely find her without a ball of wool and a pair of knitting needles. In 2017, she turned her passion into a part-time job and started giving knitting workshops and designing and writing knitting patterns under Apella Knits.
Thanks to her former neighbour, she also started working on the hand-knitting machine. This enabled her to meet the growing demand for finished products and to launch two modest winter collections. But something was gnawing and the need grew to come up with a new concept that was perfectly in line with her own vision of textiles and fashion.
Besides Apella Knits, it was time for something new.
And so BROL was born. The name was suggested by a good friend, the website and branding were done by Club Content and Vitrin and the entrepreneurial skills were honed thanks to the fashion course at Bryo. The new collection and the atelier were visualised by Birgit Sterckx. And now BROL is a brand. Both in terms of content and form. The picture is right, but there is always room for improvement.
After all, BROL is not just a knitting brand, but also a research project that is constantly searching for new ways to deal with residual streams and to put our own wool industry back on the map in order to reduce the impact on our planet. Transparency is very important here, because the customer is also entitled to the full story.
